History

The Brazilian Journal of Forensic Sciences, Medical Law and Bioethics (BJFS) had its first volume published in 2011, including among its publications the annals of the III Forensic Symposium. The journal and the mentioned event are managed by the IPEBJ (Instituto Paulista de Estudos Bioéticos e Jurídicos), an educational institution founded in 2006 and focused in education and research on Forensic Sciences, Law and Bioethics. Since of then, the BJFS has been publishing articles and proceedings related to the large Forensic field.

BJFS has an interdisciplinary editorial board and has reached classification in the QUALIS/CAPES for Nursing, Dentistry and Interdisciplinary (B4), and Anthropology/Archaeology, Agrarian Sciences I, Medicine II and Collective Health (B5). Also, BJFS has classification in QUALIS/CAPES “C” in Biological Sciences I, II and III, Biotechnology, Engineering III, Pharmacy and Chemistry. Besides that, the journal has been indexed at the databases DOAJ, PePSIC, Latindex and Redalyc since 2013.
